The Victorian Transport Association – VTA (VTA) says it welcomes Premier Daniel Andrews’ announcement that a local Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) factory will be set up locally.
The government will support Lumos Diagnostics and its delivery partner Planet Innovation with building the Victorian-based factory which will include an innovation hub.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration is still approving the production of RATs at the new facility.
Lumos will produce one million tests every month from April. This will increase to three million a month after July. By October, the facility will manufacture up to 50 million RATs annually.
To meet ongoing demand in the coming months, the state government will obtain several million tests from Lumos.
