New, unused and not field tested (NUFT) goods

Did you know that certain goods manufactured on or after 1 December 2019, and that can meet the full NUFT criteria will be exempt from BMSB measures?

To meet the NUFT criteria:

  • Goods manufactured on or after 1 December 2019 (A good is only considered to be manufactured on or after 1 December 2019 if all its large, complex components have also been manufactured after 1 December 2019)
  • Goods classed as new machinery, vehicles, vessels and/or new complex parts and equipment, and are classified under the following tariff chapters only: 82, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88 and 89
  • You will need to have evidence that the goods are manufactured on or after 1 December 2019 (i.e. manufacturer’s declaration stating that goods are new, unused and not field tested, including the date and place of manufacture)
  • Goods can be verified that they have been manufactured on or after 1 December 2019, such as supporting evidence labelled on the goods, presentation or commercial invoice with the production date etc.

Any declaration stating that goods are new, unused and not field tested, including the date and place of manufacture, must meet the minimum documentary and import declaration requirements.

If sufficient evidence is not provided, or if on inspection the goods cannot be verified as being new and manufactured on or after 1 December 2019, the goods may be directed for export or onshore treatment (if permitted).
